It is true that more, more kids, teens and young adults are overweight these days.

Unfortunately, many of the teens or young adults who are worried that they are fat or overweight, most really aren't.

Thinking you are overweight or fat when you aren't or having a 'distorted body image of your self when you look into a mirror' is as large or an even bigger problem than really being over weight, since it can lead to an eating disorder, like anorexia or bulimia, so it's not always the problem of being fat or over weight it could be a more serious problem.


The most frequent question from teens (and from everyone else of all ages) is how to lose fat in a specific area. We all store excess fat, in certain places (you can thank your genes for that), and it always seems to be in less than desirable places, like the:


* Hips
* Butt
* Thighs
* Belly
* Waist
* Upper back
* Chest

So, is it possible to lose fat from these areas and, if so, which exercises work the best?

The truth is that certain ares of reduction won’t work. That means that doing thousands of sit ups to get flat abs or leg lifts and squats to get thinner thighs won’t work.

So, if that doesn’t work then what does?


To lose fat, you have to burn more calories than you eat and allow your body to decide where the fat will be removed. The most effective way to do this is with good dieting diet and lots of exercise.

Exercise

One way to control your calories is to move around more by adding both vigorous exercise and general activity through out the day. The guidelines put out by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) recommend at least an hour of physical activity a day and up to several hours a day for most kids and teens. Activities can include things like:

* Skateboarding or inline skating
* Swimming
* Dancing
* Walking or running

* Shooting hoops

You'll burn more calories anytime you can get away from the TV or computer and move your body, which will help with weight loss. The key is to:


* Choose things you really like.


If you’re not into sports or outdoor activities, try watching free exercise programs, workout videos or fitness video games you can get them at your local library.

* Make it a regular habit. Try setting aside time each day for exercise so it becomes a natural part of your routine find something or someone who can help motivate you think will power.

* Look for ways to move more. Make extra laps around the mall, walk to your friend's house, walk the dog if you don't have one get on or borrow the neighbors or turn on the radio and dance around your bedroom. Finding different ways to move more will add up to burning lots of calories and being lot more healthy.

* Get some help from a friend or councilor at school or maybe go to the library and find new books on how to work out and make a work out sheet or schedule. If you want to exercise but don't know where to start, talk to your parents to figure out if you can join the YMCA , YWCA, work with a trainer in a professional gym, or exercise to your work out program that's on TV.


Exercise Do's

The best thing about exercise for young adult, teens is that just about any activity that gets you moving will help you burn fat. You should try to get a good hard, many different types of exercise in for about an hour a day at least 3 days a week and regulag, more moderate activity during the rest of the week. Below are the different types of activity to include each week:

* Aerobic Exercise. This includes sports like football, tennis, soccer, volleyball, basketball, etc. It also includes brisk walking, running, cycling, swimming or chasing an annoying sibling or chase your dog in a park if you have one .

Always make sure you're wearing the proper protective gear whatever activity you choose and, as mentioned previously, try for this level of activity at least 3 times a week.

* Muscle toning -Body Building.

This type of training helps you build muscular strength and endurance. It can involve unstructured activities like using playground equipment or climbing trees.

It can also include structured strength workouts with exercises like squats, push ups or crunches using weights, machines, or your own body weight. Always work with an adult, coach, trainer or other expert before you start lifting weights to make sure you know the right exercises to do and how to do them correctly. You may already lift weights if you're playing a sport but, if not, you can add this type of activity 2 to 3 days a week, with at least a day of rest in between. * Regular Activity. Aside from participating in a sport or other activities like running or riding your bike, you should also include regular activity into your day, which means limiting how much time you sit at the computer or video game. This can include active games (like Wii or Dance Dance Revolution), taking walks, wrestling with your friends or tossing a ball in the backyard. This is something you can do every day, especially on the days you aren't doing harder, more structured workouts.

Exercise Don't


* Power lifting. This type of training involves explosive lifting, often focusing on how much you can lift at one time. This type of training isn't recommended for teens because it's difficult to use good form and the body may be stressed too abruptly, causing injury.
* Excessive exercise. Exercising too much can also lead to injuries, over training and, for girls, a change in menstrual cycles that could lead to bone loss. It's sometimes hard to know how much is too much, since everyone can tolerate a different amount of exercise. However, exercising several times a day or for several hours is probably too much on anyone. Following the guidelines and exercising about an hour a day is a good place to start.
* Expect unrealistic results. While it's fine to have goals to improve your body, we can't always control what we can change. If you want bigger muscles, that's something that happens after puberty, although you can always build strength at any age. If you want to lose weight, exercise and a healthy diet are key, but don't expect dramatic weight loss overnight. Permanent, safe weight loss is a slow process and trying to speed it up with unhealthy diets or excessive exercise often backfires.

Tips for Getting More Exercise

If you're into sports, you probably have practice, games and other activities to keep you busy. If not, you may have to be creative about exercise, especially if you haven't had a chance to practice different activities to find what you like and what you're good at. Some ideas:

* Walk, bike or skate to and from school, if that's an option
* Ask your parents if you can go to the gym with them or if there's a local community center where you can exercise
* Check your cable network to see if you have Exercise TV, a channel that offers free workouts any time you like
* If you hang out at the mall or local shopping center, walk around rather than staying in one spot or eating junk at the food court
* Create a new routine where you walk, inline skate or run every day when you get home from school or before dinner. If you don't want to exercise outside by yourself, ask your friends or a family member to go with you or use an exercise video in your own bedroom
* Do some chores.Clean The house, Raking leaves or sweeping the driveway can actually burn calories while making your parents happy, Take the dog for a long walk

What ideas can you come up with?

Write down things you think you'll enjoy and make a commitment to do them on a regular basis. If you don't know where to start, talk to your friends, family or someone you trust about what you can do. Remember that any activity that gets you moving will work, so start with something you like and focus on having more fun.

1.First of all Put down that six pack, get your butt out of that recliner, turn the Tv Off. now call up your local gym or local fitness center and join it!.

2. Call up one or two of your buddy's to see if they would like to join you ( sometimes a buddy can motivate you more), go get your buddy or buddy's, no do not stop at the bar first oh..that's probably where he or they are at...sorry! my fought...

Well any way just run in and get him, But if your attempted to have a few drinks your self. just call him, tell him to meet you out side, if he is going to go to the gym and work out with you, "everything else besides the one arm he uses to lift his drink.
"No! guys this is not a excuse to get away from your spouse they will smell the beer and not the sweat.

Find something to do active

Go play basketball, football, softball, work out, what ever your sport might be,
Go take a walk everyday until you can jog again, "you got to get more active dude!

we are never to old to regain a healthier body. if you haven't forgot how, if you did, I am sure you can get a couple of books about overweight slobs at your nearest library, if you forgot where that is ask a kid.

Get you a few books on how to regain a six pack by using weights and exercise, instead of the one about forming a keg around the waist line "oh you wrote that.


"you got to get more active dude! No excuses, we are never to old to work on a healthier way of living, "I know your saying to your self well I am tired, I work all day. No dude your tired because you are out of shape.. stop wining.

Start a Diet Program of your own "It's Not just for sissy's".
"slow down on the beer", forget about your pigging out schedule for now on.
it's going to be rabbit food and no not grain in a can... high protein foods, eat smaller portions, in stead of the whole cow. eat more foods like Nut's and fruits, fish, chicken, salads.

First of all you really have to apply your self, retrain your thoughts, motivation,
will power. that's where it's at guys, "Motivate your self by looking into a mirror everyday.

you will THEN start seeing a better you before long if you really want to.
it's not going to happen over night, you did not gain all that weight over night. it take's twice as long to loose weight as it does to gain the weight.

Dieting Verses The Younger Generation

Hi People, I am going to be pretty harsh. So if you think you are going to be offended please don't read no more.

But I think people with over weight problems really needs a good harsh reality check, a good old fashion eye opening and to be told to get off there lazy butts.

How to Lose Weight.

1. Start by Getting off your lazy butt and do some exercise, Like maybe get a tread mill don't have one use the side walk, ride a bike , walk around the neighborhood, go swimming . clean your filthy house.

( I noticed that a lot of the younger generation is lazy and overweight and have a filthy home).

2. Stop eating so much junk foods and put them sodas down drink more water.

3. Find other things to think about.. instead of food.
stop watching the food network while eating a bag of chips and drinking a two liter bottle of pop and get over to grandmas, now go into her kitchen and watch her. learn how to be better in the kitchen with real cooking.. and no not with the microwave people. by using a thing called a stove and a oven to cook home cooked meals. "Yes..there is really such a thing as.. home cooking.
use a low calorie cook book. you can find some great recipes.

4.Quit eating out everyday!.. like at McDonald's, fast foods restaurants.. all the time. by stopping this you can save a lot of money, by cooking at home you can afford that tread mill you don't really want to buy because you might have to use it!.

5. Walk your dog, if you don't have one.. get one or act like you are walking a dog around the neighborhood for a few blocks a day.

6.Take your kids to the park and interact with them.. it's fun and they will enjoy it to. if you don't have a kid borrow one from your friend or family.

7. Join a health club or spa or a fitness center
If you have the time and money. if not get your lazy butt up earlier in the mornings and flip on the tube there are many free exercise programs to follow.

7. Start cleaning your house more.

Cleaning house is a great way to get exercise.
Oh.. maybe I need to explain this more into detail.
Because I noticed that some people don't know what cleaning is.

Well first of all it includes moving parts of the body.
There is a lot of lifting involved such as moving furniture around, pushing a broom and vacuuming, mopping the floors, Dusting, polishing furniture, scrubbing the bath tubs and showers, washing widows and mirrors.
so you now can see your fat self sweating of the calories,

cleaning house also includes doing that big pile laundry that's piled up to the ceiling, cleaning out the nasty refrigerator that has spilled spoiled substance all over it that's been there since the last holiday. Oh.. and yes clean your cabinet out too.
God only knows some house's desperately need a good cleaning!
You know who I am talking about!

People are just lazy when it comes to house work!... Don't think of it as work. Think of it as a daily work out!

Crank up some good music, get into a groove of your own and start cleaning.
its much more fun! and it's a way of life. it's something we all have to do.
You really might grow to like a clean home.

8. Exercise by ,walking, running bending, lifting, moving. Join your local ymca, ywca, start swimming ,golfing , jogging, playing ball working out,.. Sweat a little.. it won't hurt you.

How to Lose Weight Fast

1.Drink tea for the day with out sugar.
2. don't eat JUNK all day. Just eat a small salad for supper only, (tuna , chicken, garden, Cesar salads.

3. For snacks eat carrots celery raisins nuts in stead of candy bars and pop ,chips.

4.take long walks around the neighborhood or parks after eating a meal, go to malls or your local schools or flea markets, do house work have fun time with mate any type of activeness to burn calories.

5. eat a small salad twice a day, drink lots of water, do lots of exercises of some type.

6.throw away all your junk food.

7. eat less when dinning if you don't have the time to work it off be for going to bed.

8. use your common seance.

This is the facts about why more young people are getting Fat.
and this is what I believe is happening!

(I know some people have medical problems I understand.)

I am just going to be blunt.

There is a lot of overweight people who work and have a sit down job in today's world. or is a student in school and sits all day with very little exercise, by the time they get home they are to bored or tired to exercise.

So they come home sit down.. eat and relax. (this goes for both genders).
or they grab a snack or a microwaved TV dinner and a soda, turn on the PC start playing games or working or facebooking it or Myspacing it.. etc.. and they will sit there until time to go to bed
The only real psychical exercise you are getting here is in the mouth and hands. No! not good enough!
.

I think they should make PC's to fit on tread mills that only operate as long as you are on it along with with games such as x box, etc, heck throw the television in on that.

Then there would be a lot of skinny people in the world because many people are doing this very thing as stated above 80% of their life.

Seeing how most parents are usually to busy to interact with the children like going swimming or to the park or anything active.

it's much easier to just give them what they want to keep them occupied and out of trouble and for some out of the way.

But in reality it's really hurting them in the long run, its bad enough both of the parents have to be employed to make it in today's world.

But by not teaching our children, disciplining and teaching them real values, the real ways of life. its going to come back onto the parents later in life when the child becomes of age and is still living at home because he or she can't function in the real working world because he or she was never taught the real values of life, because everything was handed to him or her during there childhood.

But I look at the future we as parents seem to do it all for our children.
mine are spoiled bad.. as well. I am guilty to! But..I am worried that they won't grow up knowing how to survive on their own... if we keep giving into them.

I come from a hard life a family of a single mother with six children.
But I also look at it as Blessing with all that I learned. I had to work mowing yards (a lot of them). and worked in a transmission shop cleaning transmissions when I was 12.. because I had to buy my own school cloths and also had to De-tassel corn when I become a teen to get what I wanted.. I was never handed a silver spoon in life.


But I think that the children now days are going to grow up thinking if we keep giving and not making them earn it that. this is the way the world revolves and is going expect it all the time, and when they don't get what they want handed to them.. then they may get depressed.

Depression becomes a illness and can make people lazy and possibly causes a eating disorder as well. Then as they become a teen's or young adults it can develop into obesity.

then as they become a young adult trying to find a way in life or trying to escape from reality in depression. some start dating early, have babies of there own.
Most have no job, no home of there own. they have to go on food stamps and welfare or disability in order to survive. Because we as parents just give them everything we didn't have.
Maybe we should think about that seriously .
my point is make the child earn it by helping as they grow. like clean house do physical chores like mow the yard pull weeds grow a garden in the summer, wash the cars, shovel snow in the winter or what ever it takes then reward them.

This is the way the world turns. my wife said well I want my children to have what I didn't have.

This is why young children are getting into more trouble. because as they grow
they are taught to have everything they want and when they don't get it one way.. they will try to get it another easy way.

This is because they were spoiled as a toddler and now expects to be treated the same way as a teen or young adult and don't know how to function in the everyday real world.

They become young adult who don't really know any better. so some wind up behind bars because they didn't have to work or do any chores or dealing with reality of working and earning a honest living as a youngster. now you youngster becomes a gangster.
Just something to chew on


I also noticed that children who have everything they wanted growing up don't have no respect for what they have been given.

Another reason is

I think there is a lot of children raising children in today's world.
I really am worried about the next generation. some younger children who have children it's going to be a really rough life for them. how can a child raise a child when they them selves are still a child and need be taught discipline, still learning them selves about reality.
I am not sure where it went wrong but its a new world out there.

Well..Back to Dieting

I've went to a friends houses and seen one of the children sitting on the floor playing a video game and in front of him was a big bucket of chicken..ummmm
also he was sitting their eating from a half gal of Ice cream from the container.

weather he was eating the whole thing I don't know. But the child was over weight, it was 80 degrees out side a real nice day. If he was my child he would have been out side playing basket ball or base ball, foot ball or playing in a park running in the yard or what ever but he would not have been inside on a nice day sitting and eating.
Blame goes on the parents

I think a lot of blame goes on the parents. Yes!.. you know what I am talking about you don't feel like fixing a big supper.

so we grab a bag of chips and some dip a sandwich and some cookies for desert,a big bottle of soda pop sit down at the table or just grab a sandwich and hit the TV room and we call it supper.

I understand with the stress of working and trying to raise a family it is not easy to prepare a home cooked meal every night. but come people look what you are doing.. not only to our selves but our family.
it seems to be becoming our way of life to just grab fast food in this fast pace world. Slow down & smell the Home cooking for a change


Another issue - Snacking

kids snack all day long now it seems, another thing I see a lot of today is that most kids are drinking way to much soda even the parents...Think about all the sugar.
Just a thought!

Dieting is a big issue with our younger folks there seems to be more obesity within the young. I think it has a lot to do with several things in today's world.

Such as fast foods, more people such as parents seem to be on the go and it is easier to grab fast food frozen The all ready prepared microwavable stuff,
If you really think about all the chemicals they put in those foods to preserve for freshness.


Food & chemical - it all begins with our farmers.

I think it all starts with our corn, grain , all the chemicals they use to fertilize to grow corn, grain , produce.

a lot of that feed goes to feeding the cattle, pigs, chickens, so farmers can produce more corn, grain with chemicals.

Beef patty's & chicken sandwiches, a rack of ribs

The use of steroids to produce more cattle, pigs, chickens, Eggs faster.

This morning I was watching the news and they were talking about what it takes to make a McDonald quarter ponder. how much oil from chemicals such as fertilizers approx 16oz's of crude oil that is about 7lbs of coal to grow the corn that feeds the cow. then you have more chemicals to beef up the meat. it was just amazing of what goes into our food products these days.

Now To the steroids in our meat products.
The animals produce faster. So I think children now days are also developing faster. I don't know for sure about this but I put two and two together and if the cow or chicken eats the steroid it grows faster then it's butchered and sent to the market. we buy it cook it a feed it to our family's (UMmm).

you don't see much family time at the dinner tables a good old fashion breakfast or lunch or supper. if you do.. it's a fast frozen dinner or precooked of some sort.

Where did the good old home cooking values go as I was growing up?
ho made cornbread ,fresh veggies grandma canned, Meat & potatoes.

another thing is not enough exercise going in the world today no one hardly plants a garden of there own.

people who are growing there own fresh veggies like the good old days this was a part of exercise... back in the day. yes it's called work physical work.

now people even hire there yard work to others some don't have time.. its sad!.


I looked into the past you didn't see obesity as much as you do now.
only in the higher up such as kings.

(point is they never had to do for them selves always had servants. so they just sit around eating.)
